about
A couple years ago I put out a bunch of songs I'd written and produced that were sung by "The Haitian Boy" Calixte - an absolutely incredible singer and songwriter. Since then Calixte has written and co-written massive hits for K-pop group NCT 127 and I...well...I was working on other things. But there was a song we worked on a while back that I never finished mixing and I decided now was the time. Our other tracks were pop/upbeat, but this one is more of a ballad - and one that speaks to where I am at right now I think.
Another thing that happened since back then is that Calixte's friend, collaborator and manager Elvis Brown was struck with CNS Lymphoma - an aggressive and serious form of brain cancer which put him in the hospital and has kept him there since. His friends set up a GoFundMe to support his medical expenses.
So - as I often do - I'm releasing this song as a pay-what-you-want with all proceeds going directly to Elvis' medical expenses. I think the track is moving and great, as is the cause so I hope you will listen, support and share.
Thank you friends.
lyrics
What good is it for me to say I need you
What good is it for me to keep you here
My love
What good would it have done
When the shadows take the sun
And leave nothing
Did you mean to make me feel like I was floating
Did you mean to make me feel like I was high
Did you mean to paint the sky
Blood blue
A diamond eye
Looking down
Lay down
Lay down
Lay down
Did you mean to walk away
Is there nothing to say
Will you pray for me
There's no remedy for this
There’s no emnity in this
I wish that I could tell you
It’s a dream
If you close your eyes it will be
Maybe it will be
And if you close your eyes
There’s nothing left to see
Nothing left of me
